Shortly i will be having my tank and rear Mudguard sprayed i would like them Matt Black but i have been told you have to have a laquer on top as if any petrol drips ect.. will cause it to peel, so my thinking is if i have a laquer coat it will look shiney and i really want the dull Matt look any advice please???

If its done properly, it will be ok. Ive done loads of matt black and although ive spilled a little petrol on the filler now and again, its never peeled or wrinkled.
The thing to do is keep a can of matt handy, so if you get fed up of seeing the stain on the paint, you just blow it over with the rattlecan.
OR, be careful when you fill up and dont spill any juice.

if you add activator to basecoat it turns it into a single stage matte finish which is reasonably durable ,or use something like HOK hotrod flatz or matte lacquer or clearcoat with a flatting agent

i presumed he was being advised by a bodyshop as he said he was having it done not doing it himself

they should be aware that basecoat can be activated to make it non reversable ie it will then not redesolve as normal or that matting agents can be used in the clearcoat

Yes it is mate. If your sprayer has owt about him hell know whats what.
You can get Matt paint or basecoat and you can also get Matt Laquer so either way, youll end up with Matt paint.
Its all up to the ability of the painter then.
Id have a go at it myself if i was you with rattlecans. Theres a post on here that i replied to telling everyone how to do it without it peeling. Try and find it and have a read. Youd save a fortune doing it yourself mate.

A little bit of filler in the dent and rub it down, Simple. But id recommend a Hi-build primer if you do that.
Once flatted back you can rattlecan it. If you cant find the post just get in touch and ill run you through it mate. It takes a bit of time to do properly, but its worth it in the end.

You can paint a bike for under 20 quid from where i get my paint. but 30-35 quid should be enough from other places. Yeah, pop up anytime mate. You never know, i might even blow it over for you if your up for a couple of days.
