Hi I’m Shaun aka Panthershaun for reasons that will become clear later. I am a full on Gearhead and with the exception of travel and surfing I can’t think of a better way of spending my time than playing with engines. My first love was Hotrods way back when I was a boy but I tended to veer towards motorcycles because of my older Brother.
I spotted my first Indian when I was in my early teens and have lusted after one ever since. I have owned a few bikes but I still have the BSA I purchased when I was 18, the owner selling it to make way for a Panther. I have to say the BSA satisfied all my bike needs for most of those years, but I couldn’t get the Panther out of my mind. But you know how it is when life doesn’t let you do all the things you want!! It wasn’t until my late 30’s that I finally got around to buying one (in boxes) that has become Bobcat. I have to admit a full on obsession with P&M’s perfected motorcycle and have plan’s afoot to build a Panther based trike.
I have also managed to get my hands on several Indian parts which are slowly (VERY slowly) being built into a Bobber with a Desperate Dan frame, it is via Indians that I have become close mates with Chris Ireland and how I stumbled into this job with the magazine. I have to admit I have never seen myself as a Company Director but it is strange the routes life takes you. Due to the magazine I have found myself totally emerged in the Hotrod scene which has taken over my life quite a bit and I have now got a Ford Pop Hotrod pickup build on the go, I am no engineer and more the glorified tea boy holding the welder for my mate but I am learning and enjoying the experience.
For the future? Well I have developed an obsession with 2 CV’s and have some mad plans for one of those (which is sitting on my drive), build the Panther trike, Finish the Indian in time for the 2009 international rally in Scotland, Build the NSU engined Bobber and get out to as many shows as I can in the next season.
If you see me about, come up and say hello as it is always good to put a face to a name.
