ISSUE 7: Another crackin’ Black and White from the early 1980’s, of Chops lined up outside a bar. We’re in full swing now, and the magazine has developed its own character. Rick rambles about the difference between British and Japanese bikes. Odgie tells of an Epic Journey he made, and there’s another episode of the trip to Thailand.
Bikes and cars, there are plenty. The Blastolene Brothers are featured with “Big Bertha”, a car built on an American fire engine chassis and powered by a 20= litre V12 engine. You have to see it to believe it. Andy Saunders’ Volvo Lowrider hits you between the eyes, and there’s a feature on the “Billing” show, and two of our readers go Stateside and meet (and interview) George Barris.
As for bikes, there are a couple of Thai ones, Atan’s Honda C70 Chop (don’t laugh, it’s superb), and Jumeen’s immaculate radical 1970’s styled Honda CB750. There’s a BMW Ratbike, a Tribsa Caff Racer, Billy Eggs Beezer Bobber, and the Cheddar Gorge Show.
Trikes…..Crazy Ralph’s Fiat Twincam. We did the moving shots at 100mph and he had three kids on the back, the mad bastard. There’s another story about NABD with some tidy adapted trikes.
Tech tips include shortening propshafts and mounting rear axles, Brake bleeding, and another episode of Phixer’s “Novice”.
CENTRESPREAD: The Editor’s Indian. Extremely radical Indian 741B built by Chris Ireland.
