ISSUE 4: Worth it for the “Black and White” alone, “Mrs Norman in her slippers”. The last part of the Atan interview, “Black Rose”, a Harley built by an American sculptor who’s into bondage, and we get a pretty famous person starting to submit features, when Crazy Odge writes about his 1950’s pickup. Talking of pickups, there’s also Mad Richard’s roof chopped Minor doing stupid burnouts on Yarmouth seafront. Trikewise, a Rat VW from Scotland, and Saf’s really tidy Raptor. The guy on the cover of issue 3 re-appears with a Harley ’45 almost as mad as his cover bike. There’s a tech feature on penetrating oil, “Loosen your nuts” and part 1 of Lasercutting and Profiling.
PantherShaun appears with “HotRod Novice”, his first attempt at building a Rodded Ford Pop, and there’s the second part of “Drag Racing”. I enjoyed “Bicycle Repairman”, a feature on chopped pushbikes, almost as much as the one on scale-model Chops (Junk Yard Art). This issue sees the start of a serialised story of “Desperate” and “Perdix”’s trip around the bike builders of Thailand, “Bangkok Bike Buddha’s”.
CENTRESPREAD: Thunderbike, from Germany. At first glance you’d swear it was a Harley, but no. Yamaha 1600 V-Twin. Looks can be deceptive.
